Der Ort meiner Freude ist friedlich und kühl, Von schützenden Mauern umgeben. Es wehen die Lüfte so schauerlich still Wie auch stürmet das wechselnde Leben! Und einsam hebt da sich ein Hügel von Stein, Den schließet das Leben, das Leben mir ein. Es kehret der Frühling in heiterer Pracht Doch kann er nicht stillen mein Sehnen Wie hell auch die Sonne, im Herzen ist Nacht, Ich seh nur den Glanz meiner Thränen. Und geh ich wie sonst auch mir Kränze zu pflücken, Ist's nur um den Hügel von Stein mir zu schmücken.
