Am Grabe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG

At the Graveside
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The place of my happiness is peaceful and cool,
Enclosed by protecting stone walls.
The winds blow so softly shivering,
No matter how much changeable life may storm!
And there stands upraised a mound of stone,
In which is imprisoned my life, my life.

Springtime returns in bright splendour
But it cannot assuage my longing,
However bright the sun, in my heart it is night,
I see only the shimmer of my tears.
And even if, as I once did, I go to pick flowers for a wreath
It is only to adorn my mound of stone.
