Die Dämmerstunde
 (Sung text for setting by H. Proch)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sonst in trauter Dämmerstunde,
Wenn es draußen fror und schneite,
Saß ich still an deiner Seite,
Hand in Hand und Mund auf Munde;
O du süße Dämmerstunde!

Heil'ge Ruhe in der Runde,
Worte flogen, Augen glühten,
Und der Liebe Blumen blühten;
Herz und Herz im schönsten Bunde.
O du süße Dämmerstunde!

Jetzt in stillen Dämmerstunden
Sitz' ich am Kamine wieder;
Doch die Funken sind verschwunden,
Statt der Küsse fließen Lieder!
O ihr süßen Dämmerstunden!

Composition:

    Set to music by Heinrich Proch (1809 - 1878), "Die Dämmerstunde", op. 40 no. 2, published 1838 [ voice and piano ], Wien, Diabelli und Co.

Text Authorship:

  • by Franz Ferdinand, Freiherr von Dingelstedt (1814 - 1881), "Am Kamine zu singen", appears in Gedichte [1838], in Jahres-Zeiten
