Im Walde möcht' ich leben
zur heißen Sommerszeit,
der Wald, der kann uns geben
viel Lust und Fröhlichkeit.

In seinem kühlen Schatten
da winkt mir jeder Zweig und Ast
das Blümchen auf den Matten
nickt mir: "Komm, lieber Gast!"

Wie sich die Vögel schwingen
im hellen Morgenglanz!
Und Hirsch' und Rehe springen
so lustig wie zum Tanz.

Vor jedem Zweig und Reise
o hört doch nur, wie's lieblich schallt!
Sie singen laut und leise:
"Komm, komm zum grünen Wald!"
