Nachtbildchen
(Sung text for setting by L. Keller)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es kreuzen sich drei Gassen
Am alten Lindenbaum,
Der Vollmond gießt den blassen
Goldschein aus blauem Raum.
Die Menschen in den spitzen
Schlafmützen kommen für,
Gespräche haltend sitzen
Sie lang noch vor der Thür.

Im Schirme der gerühmten
Stadtschaarwacht ist gut ruhn!
Mondhell glühn die geblümten
Schlafröcke von Kattun. —
Nachtwächterhorngeschmetter
Scheucht all ins Bett mit Macht,
Und Nachbar, Bas und Vetter
Sie wünschen sich: Gute Nacht.
