Franziskus‑Lied
(Sung text for setting by M. von Kralik)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Hört ihr Vöglein, habet acht:
Gott der Herr hat euch gemacht,
schuf die heit're Vogelseele,
schuf die sangesfrohe Kehle
und den stillen, grünen Wald
euch zum schönen Aufenthalt.
Singet, Gott zu ehren,
seinen Ruhm zu mehren,
euer junges, frohes Glück
gebt in Liedern ihm zurück.
Singt, ihr Vöglein alle,
dass es weithin schalle.

Amsel, Fink und Nachtigall
und ihr kleinen Vöglein all',
wenn ihr recht von Herzen singet,
dass es auf zum Himmel dringet
früh am Morgen, abends spät;
euer Singen ist Gebet!
Singet, Gott zu ehren etc.

Composition:

Set to music by Mathilde von Kralik (1857 - 1944), "Franziskus-Lied", note: the first stanza is in the printed score and the second stanza is handwritten on the same sheet
