Die Nacht
 (Sung text for setting by E. Breslaur)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Swedish (Svenska)
Mondschein glänzt hernieder hold,
tropft herab wie flüssig Gold
von den Blütenzweigen;
Klänge durch die Lüfte weh'n,
die wie eine Botschaft geh'n
durch das nächt'ge Schweigen.

Sel'ger Friede! O wie schön,
solchem Ton von Himmelshöh'n
ahnungsvoll zu lauschen!
Wohl an ihm mit Sehnsuchtsschmerz
mag das sturmbewegte Herz
nächtlich sich berauschen!
