Herbstlied
 (Sung text for setting by J. Blied)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Blaue Luft kommt von den Bergen
leise, leise in die Welt;
letzte Glocken, letzte Lerchen
rufen selig übers Feld.

Wie ein Frühlingstag gelinde
ist es heut' in Feld und Hag;
leise rauscht der Baum im Winde
zu des Bächleins Wellenschlag.

Wenn die Blätter nur nicht mählich
wehten in das weite Land,
und die Vöglein heiwehselig
ihre Schwingen ausgespannt!

Composition:

    Set to music by Jakob Blied (1844 - 1884), "Herbstlied", op. 27 no. 10, published 1877 [ four-part men's chorus ], from Liederkranz. Lieder-Cyclus für vierstimmigen Männerchor, no. 10, Leipzig, Merseburger
