Die Ähren nur noch nicken,
Das Haupt ist ihnen schwer;
Die müden Blumen blicken,
Nur schüchtern noch umher.
Da kommen Abendwinde,
Still wie die Engelein,
Und wiegen sanft und linde
Die Halm' und Blumen ein.
Und wie die Blumen blicken,
So schüchtern blickst du nun,
Und wie die Ähren nicken
Will auch dein Köpfchen ruh'n.
Und Abendwinde schwingen
Still wie die Engelein
Sich um die Wieg', und singen
Mein Kind in Schlummer ein.
Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Ähren" becomes "Aehren", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Ähren".
Composition:
Set to music by Ernst Ander (1820 - 1855), "Wiegenlied"

Les espigues es vinclen tan sols,
els seus caps són feixucs;
les flors cansades esguarden
tímidament al seu entorn.
Llavors ve el vent del capvespre,
silent com els angelets,
i suau i dolçament bressola
les tiges i les flors.
I tal com esguarden les flors
tímidament esguardes tu ara,
i tal com es vinclen les espigues
reposarà també el teu caparró.
I els sons del vespre es mouen
suaus com els angelets,
al voltant del bressol i canten
per fer adormir el meu infant.
