Zwei Rosen
(Sung text for setting by W. Steinhart)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Von meinem Lieb' verwahr' ich,
O wie erinn'rungsreich!
Zwei Rosen, eine purpur'n,
Die and're weiß und bleich.

Die rothe Rose schenkte
Sie mir an jenem Tag,
Als sie zum ersten Male
An meinem Herzen lag.

In Thränenthau erblüht
Brach ich die weiße ab,
Als ich auf Allerseelen
Besucht' ihr stilles Grab.

Note for stanza 3, line 2, word 4: another edition of Löwe's has "zweite" instead of "weiße".
