(Sung text for setting by J. Kraus)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Erste:
 Regen, komm herab!
 Unsre Saaten stehn und trauern,
 Und die Blumen welken.

Der Zweyte:
 Regen, komm herab!
 Unsre Bäume stehn und trauern!
 Und das Laub verdorret.

Der Erste:
Und das Vieh im Felde schmachtet,
 Und brüllt auf zum Himmel.

Der Zweyte:
Und der Wurm im Grase schmachtet,

Laß doch nicht die Blumen welken!
 Nicht das Laub verdorren!
O! laß doch den Wurm nicht sterben!
 Regen, komm herab!
