Und grünet darin und umranket es dicht.
Du mein tausendschönes Mägdelein,

Im Regen und im Sonnenschein
Soll auch die grüne Myrte gedeih'n,
  Die meine Hand in's Haar dir flicht,
Mein tausendschönes Mägdelein,
  Vergiß mein nicht!

In the rain and in the sunshine
The green myrtle shall also flourish,
  The myrtle that my hand shall twine into your hair,
My superlatively lovely maiden,
  Do not forget me!
