Der gefangene Zeisig
(Sung text for setting by G. Rüdinger)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zeisig, mein Zeisig, was fällt dir denn ein?
"Wär' ich doch wieder frei,
Fort aus der Sklaverei!"
Sklaverei? Narrethei! bist du nicht frei?

Zeisig, mein Zeisig, ei, bist du nicht frei?
"Frei in der Kerkerhaft,
Frei in Gefangenschaft?"
Ho ho ho! anderswo geht's dir nicht so!

Zeisig, mein Zeisig, wo geht's dir so gut?
"Nirgend als dort allein,
Dort wo ich frei kann sein."
Doch doch doch sag' mir noch, ei, wohin doch?

Zeisig, mein Zeisig, wo willst du doch hin?
"Wo es mir wohlgefällt,
Draußen in Wald und Feld."
Geh geh geh! nun so geh! Zeisig ade!
