Du liebes, holdes, himmelsüßes Wesen,

Du ahnest nicht, wie treu ich dir ergeben,

Ich bin jetzt, was ich nimmer noch gewesen,
so froh, so still, so frei von wildem Streben.
Das neue Dasein, das du mir gegeben,
ein Räthsel ist's, ich kann es nimmer lösen.

Du selbst in deines Wesens holder Klarheit,
so sanft, so gut, in nie getrübtem Frieden,
scheinst oft aus meinem Traume mir geboren.
Zu schön für diese Erde wär' die Wahrheit!
Doch flieht auch dieser Traum, dann ist hienieden
