Der Garten
 (Sung text for setting by E. Humperdinck)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Liebe kam als Maiensonne
Und schien, was schlafend im Herzen lag,
Mit ihrem linden Strahl mir wach.

Da kam die Lieb' als Maienregen;
Die jungen Keime sogen ihn ein
Und wurden zu duftenden Blümelein.

Da ist mein Herz zum Garten geworden
Mit Rosen, Lilien, Vergissmeinnicht,
Und Vogelschall durch die Zweige bricht.

In seinen blühenden, klingenden Gängen
Lustwandelt ein maienfrisch Mägdelein
Und wartet der sprießenden Blümelein.
