'k En hoore u nog niet
 (Sung text for setting by J. Ryelandt)
 Matches original text
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
'k En hoore u nog niet,
o nachtegale, en
de paaschzunne zit
  in 't oosten;
waar blijft gij zoo lange,
of hebt gij misschien
vergeten van ons
  te troosten?

't En zomert, 't is waar,
't en loovert, 't en lijdt
geen bladtje nog uit
  de hagen;
't zit ijs in den wind,
't zit sneeuw in de lucht,
't is stormen, dat 't doet,
  en vlagen.

Toch spreeuwt het en vinkt
het luide, overal;
de merelaan lacht
  en tatelt;
het muscht en het meest,
het koekoet, in 't hout;
het zwaluwt en 't zwiert
  en 't swatelt.

Waar blijft hij zoo lang;
de nachtegale; en
vergeet hij van ons
  te troosten?
't En zomert nog niet,
maar zomeren zal 't:
de Paaschzunne zit
  in 't oosten.
