På Bjerg og ved nøgne Strande.

Hver Sjæl sit Fædreland priste; 
Men fredløs foer over Bjerg og Hav 
Den evige Landsforviiste. 

På Zion græsser Osmanens hest 
Og ved Genesarets Bredder  --  
Det Folk, Gud Herren har elsket meest, 
Veed ei hvad Fædreland hedder.
