Du lifvets eviga röda flamma
(Sung text for setting by K. Håkanson)
 Matches base text
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Du lifvets eviga röda flamma som full
och stilla brinner genom dômernas skymning,
i murarnas nischer, öfver husens portar
och i kvinnornas ögon.
Du alstringsgnista af den första skapelseelden,
som klyfde det svarta kaos, du mörkröda,
hvilande droppe af den eviga
värmekällan af elden och blodet,
aldrig slocknande och aldrig sinande,
genom kölden och natten, ned genom seklerna
och ned genom släktena rinner du.
Rinner du i en timme af tystnad
och längtan in i mitt väsen,
rinner som röd ro ned i mitt öppna hjärta.

Composition:

Set to music by Knut Håkanson (1887 - 1929), "Du lifvets eviga röda flamma", op. 4 no. 2 (1913) [ voice and piano ], from De bägge viljorna och andra dikter av Ola Hansson, no. 2
