Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE

und ich kreise jahrtausendelang;

I live my life in growing orbits
(Sung text for setting by M. Rose)
 Matches original text
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I live my life in growing orbits,
which move out over the things of the world.
Perhaps I can never achieve the last,
but that will be my attempt.

I am circling around God, around the ancient tower,
and I have been circling for a thousand years.
And I still don't know if I am a falcon,
Or a storm, or a great song.
Permission granted for use by the Lied, Art Song, and Choral Texts Archive stemming from agreement on recording between Mark Abel and Harper and Row.
