by Émilie Arnal (1863 - 1935)
Translation Singable translation by Anonymous / Unidentified Author

Aime‑moi
Language: French (Français)
Aime-moi puisque m'importe
Tout ce qui te charmera,
Ma main ouvrira ta porte
Au rêve qui te plaira.

[J'ai mourais]1 tout de ta vie,
Tes amitiés, tes amours,
Ta sagesse, ta folie,
D'ombre même de tes jours.

Je voudrais que ma tendresse
Loin d'arrêter ton essor
Par un nœud dur qui te blesse
Se2 rendit plus libre et fort.

Prends moi dans tes mains puissantes
Mêle mon souffle et le tien,
Puis, va!...Je veux que tu sentes
Tout ce que vivre contient.

Va! Je sais qu'au bout du monde
Le désir poignant et doux
Que mon cœur au tien répond
Fera ployer tes genoux.

Note: the text copied from the guide "Canções Brasileiras" had some grammatical errors that have been corrected ( line 13 : puissants -> puissantes ; line 15 : qui -> que ; line 19 : réponds -> répond) ; however, they may exist on the score itself.
1 grammatically, this should probably be "Je mourrais pour "... again, this may appear on the score and must be checked.
2 perhaps this should be "Te" ?

Ama‑me
(Sung text for setting by A. Nepomuceno)
 Matches base text
Language: Portuguese (Português)  after the French (Français)
Ama-me pois me importa
Tudo que possa encantá-lo,
Minha mão te abrirá a porta
Ao sonho que mais agradá-lo.

Eu morreria por tudo em tua vida
Tuas amizades, teus amores,
Tua sabedoria, tua loucura,
Mesmo pelas sombras de teus dias.

Gostaria que minha ternura,
Longe de deter o teu ímpeto
Por um nó duro que te machuca,
Te faça mais livre e forte.

Toma-me em tuas mãos poderosas
Mistura meu sopro ao teu,
Então, vá! Eu quero que tu sintas
Tudo o que viver contém.

Vá! Sei que no fim
O desejo pungente e doce
Que meu coração ao teu responde
Fará dobrar teus joelhos.

Composition:

Set to music by Alberto Nepomuceno (1864 - 1920), "Ama-me", 1911 [ voice and piano ], also set in French (Français)
