So schlaf in Ruh!
(Sung text for setting by F. Mendelssohn)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE
  So schlaf' in Ruh!
Die Zeitlos' und die Tulpe nickt,
Auf daß der Schlaf auch sie erquickt.
  Die Äugelein zu!
  Mein Kindlein du!
  So schlaf' in Ruh!

 ...

  So schlaf' in Ruh!
Die Sternlein leuchten hell und klar,
Es kommt von dort der Engel Schaar,
  Die Äugelein zu!
  Mein Kindlein du,
  So schlaf' in Ruh!

  So schlaf' in Ruh!
Es kommt auch einer her und wacht,
Mein Kind, bei dir die ganze Nacht.
  Die Äugelein zu!
  Mein Kindlein du,
  So schlaf' in Ruh!

  So schlaf' in Ruh!
Er breitet seine Flügel aus,
Und singt: O segne Gott dies Haus!
  Die Äugelein zu!
  Mein Kindlein du,
  So schlaf' in Ruh!

Note: the text above is taken from stanzas 1,4-6 of the original text.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Äugelein" becomes "Aeugelein", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Äugelein".

Composition:

Set to music by Felix Mendelssohn (1809 - 1847), "So schlaf in Ruh!", 1838, stanzas 1,4-6 [ voice and piano ]

Text Authorship:

  • by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874), no title, appears in Kinderlieder, in Wiegenlieder II, no. 4

Així doncs, dorm en pau!
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Mendelssohn)
 See original
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch)
Així doncs, dorm en pau!
Els còlquics i les tulipes capcinegen
perquè a ells la son també els reviscoli.
Tanca els teus ullets!
Tu, petit infant meu!
Ara, dorm en pau!

 ...

Així doncs, dorm en pau!
Les estrelles brillen lluminoses i clares,
d’allà dalt arriba un estol d’àngels.
Tanca els teus ullets!
Tu, petit infant meu!
Ara, dorm en pau!

Així doncs, dorm en pau!
N’hi ha un que ve aquí per vetllar-te,
infant meu, tota la nit al teu costat.
Tanca els teus ullets!
Tu, petit infant meu!
Ara, dorm en pau!

Així doncs, dorm en pau!
Ell desplega les seves ales
i canta: que Déu beneeixi aquesta casa!
Tanca els teus ullets!
Tu, petit infant meu!
Ara, dorm en pau!
