Mondschein auf dem Meere
(Sung text for setting by F. Kücken)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es webt der helle Mondenschein
das Meer in Silberglanz!
Er schaut so sehnsuchtsvoll hinein,
und so erfüllt er's ganz.

In meines Herzens Grunde
da spiegelte sich dein Bild
und hat es seit jener Stunde
nun ganz und gar erfüllt.

Und ob das Meer sich wallend hebt
und sich in Wogen bricht,
auf jeder Welle strebt
und bebt das volle Mondenlicht.

Von meines Herzens Schlagen
da wogt meines Denkens Meer,
und alle Gedanken tragen
dein liebes Bild daher.

Composition:

Set to music by Friedrich Wilhelm Kücken (1810 - 1882), "Mondschein auf dem Meere", op. 80 no. 1 [ voice and piano ]
