Jägerlied im Mai
(Sung text for setting by F. Curschmann)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Laßt eure Stimmlein schallen
In dieser Maienzeit,
Ihr lieben Nachtigallen!
Wir thun euch nichts zu leid.
Wir wandern still und träumen,
Uns ist so wohl, so bang,
Als rief' aus allen Bäumen
Uns zu des Liebchens Sang.

Wir irren hin und wanken,
Berauscht von Sangeslust,
Und alle Mordgedanken
Entfliehn aus unsrer Brust.
Wir gönnen selbst den Lüchsen
Und Dachsen Ruh und Rast,
Und schmücken unsre Büchsen
Mit einem Eichenast.
