Lied in der See
(Sung text for setting by B. Molique)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ach, war mein Leid so ferne
Wie du, mein Lieb, mir bist!
Ach, wärest du mir nahe
Wie mir mein Leiden ist!

Wohl gehn an mir vorüber
Viel Ufer, Berg' und Thal -
Doch da sie dich nicht bringen,
Was bringen sie als Qual?

Wohl wühlen Winterstürme
Die wilden Wasser auf -
Doch, da ich dir nicht nahe,
Zu was mein Weg und Lauf?

Zu was mein Spiel und Wagen,
Zu was Gefahr und Muth?
Du bist ja doch verloren,
Mein einzig Ziel und Gut!
