by Maurice Reinhold von Stern (1860 - 1938)

Abendandacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es webt die Nacht ihr Brautgewand,
Leis rauscht der Blüthenbaum;
Wie milder Odem haucht das Land
Und ruht in Duft und Traum;
In Wonnethau die Wiese weint,
Im Mondlicht glänzt der Thau,
O stille Nacht,
O Sternenpracht  --
O Welt, du Wunderbau!

Nun zieht die Ruhe in's Gemüth,
Wie milder Sternenschein
Und Maiduft, über Nacht erblüht,
Haucht mir in's Herz hinein.
Es stillt das Sehnen seinen Drang,
Weil es wie Freide weht;
O Seele, schau,
Bad' dich im Thau,
Das stärkt wie ein Gebet.
