Die ganze Schöpfung steht in Trauer; Das Laub der Bäume färbt sich gelber, Und ach! mir ist, als fühlt' ich selber Im Herzen kalte Winterschauer. Wie ringsum Alles stirbt und endet! Bei diesem Welken und Verderben Fleh' ich: o Gott, laß' mich nicht sterben, Eh' ich ein schönes Werk vollendet!
