by Hermann Marggraff (1809 - 1864)

Leben im Tod der Liebe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nur einmal noch dich sehen
In deiner Glieder Pracht --
Und dann in Lust vergehen
Vor deiner Schönheit Macht --
Ein Nebelrauch, verflogen
In reiner Lüfte Flut,
Ein Tropfen, aufgesogen
Von heißer Sonnenglut:

O wohllustreich Ergeben,
Verlust und doch Gewinn!
O Tod, so voll von Leben,
O Ende voll Beginn!
O Seligkeit voll Schmerzen,
O Lust so voller Pein,
Will Herz dem zweiten Herzen
So Sarg und Wiege sein!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Hermann Marggraff, Leipzig: F. A. Brockhaus, 1857, page 194.
