by Gottfried Max Harweck (b. 1849)

Im Abendsonnenglanze
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Abendsonnenglanze,
Auf steiler Felsenhöh,
Im Zinnenschmuck und Glanze,
Am spiegelglatten See,  --

Da blinket uns entgegen
Ein altes Ritterschloß,
In dem ich Gottes Segen,
Der Menschen Lieb' genoß.

Dort oben weilt ein Wesen,
Das mir einst Treue schwur.
Vorbei;  --  es ist gewesen
Und war ein Träumen nur.

Stets muß ich Dein gedenken,
Wenn jenes Schloß ich seh';
Ich will Dein Schmerz versenken
Im spiegelglatten See.
