by Karl Eduard von Holtei (1798 - 1880)

Negatives Ständchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Öffne nicht, geliebtes Mädchen!
öffne nicht und hör' auch nicht
Hebe nicht vom weißen Lager
dein verstecktes Angesicht.

Wache nicht die Sinne munter
störe nicht den süßen Traum,
Sieh zum Sänger nicht herunter
denn Du kennst den Sänger kaum.

Bleibe ruhig, holder Engel!
höre mich im Träume an.
Siehst Du wachend einst mich wieder,
kennst Du Deinen Sänger dann.

Und dem Sänger wird vergeben
was die schwache Kraft versäumt;
Leise wird ein Hauch Dir beben:
Es ist der, den du geträumt.

First appeared in Morgenblatt für gebildete Stände, 1817.
