Die Nacht bedeckt die Stadt mit tiefem Schleier, verloschen ist des letzten Lichtes Schein; kein Laut, kein Hauch stört uns'res Glückes Feier, wir beide ruhen einsam und allein. Die Ewigkeit, wir haben sie erworben, nichts außer uns das große Nichts enthält; das All ist tot, Gott selber ist gestorben, nur du und ich: wir beide sind die Welt.
