Jeg vil bøie mit Hoved imod hans Bryst
Og min Kind mod hans Hjertekammer.
I hans Blik vil jeg dukke min Sjæl med Lyst
Og vugges i Livets Flammer.
 
Hans Paulun er et Tempel med Myrrhaduft;
Som Propheters hans Røst mig klinger.
Naar han sukker, faae Paradiistanker Luft
Og flyve med Englevinger.
 
Mine Kinder har Middagens Straaler brændt,
Naar jeg gik gjennem Ørkner golde.
Mod den stigende Sol var mit Aasyn vendt
Og mod hans Pauluners Volde.
 
Jeg er dunkel, som Druen, der blusser rød
Paa mit Bjerg over Kedars Vænge;
Dog han elsker de mørkladne Kinders Glød
Som Rosen fra Sarons Enge.
