Le beau prince franc Clodomir, 
A préféré se rendormir

Plutôt que vivre et que souffrir 
Au sinistre oubli résignée, 
La Belle a dit à l'araignée : 
« Tisse tes toiles, araignée, 
« L'ombre est douce à qui va mourir. » 

Elle a mieux aimé, la charmante, 
Reprendre son rêve enivrant 
Que vivre en notre âpre tourmente.

Oh ! les grands iris odorants, 
Les grands iris noirs de ténèbres 
Au seuil des sept donjons funèbres 
De la princesse au Bois dormant.
