Glunten: Framåt marsch! Magistern: Gå på! Glunten: Höger om! Magistern: Rätt så! Glunten: Hu, så beckande mörkt i natt! Magistern: Gör detsamma. Glunten: Ja men! Magistern: Men var ä’ vi? Glunten: I gränd. Magistern: Vete fan vad jag fått för en hatt. Glunten: Vem är det? Magistern: Va’ sa? Glunten: Svara strax! Magistern: Wer da? Glunten: Varför står herr’n och lurar så sent? Magistern: Nå, så tokigt! Glunten: Hur så? Magistern: Det är pumpen! Glunten: Hå, hå! Magistern: Ber om ursäkt . . . var ej illa men’t. Both: Arm i arm framåt! Kors så vinglig stråt! Jag var dum, som åt . . . borde supit på’t. Det var hin till Eriksgata, mörk och smutsig, kall och våt. Jämna steg, takt tu! Så, nu går det ju? Akta knuten nu! Håll du truten du! Aj! Ohoj! Pladask i smutsen ligger nu båd’ jag och du. Magistern: Ja, så går det till slut med all världslig fröjd hur man ock balanserar, så bär det kull. Both: Och till rännstenens djup från salongens höjd är ett tuppsteg, min bror, se’n man väl är full. Glunten: Det är märkvärdigt dock vad man faller lätt och hur svårt det se’n har sig att komma opp! Both: Ja, den tyngdlagen fjäskar på alla sätt, för att rätt chikanera vår arma kropp. Glunten: Hör du brandvaktens rop, som på Dombron står? Magistern: Nå, den hjälpen den kom som från skyn! Both: (ropa) Du skall få dig en sup som till stortån går, om du halar oss opp utur dyn. (De få hjälp av brandvakten.) Glunten: Hedersvän, tag ett tag ... noch ein mal ... se så där! Magistern: Din belöning blir stor om ock sen. Both: Du är lycklig ändå, ty du vet vart det bär; du har stadgade, sansade ben.
