Tous ceux qui vus de dos s'éloignaient en chantant
Qu'on avait vus passer le long de la rivière
Où même les roseaux redisaient leurs prières
Que reprenaient plus fort et plus loin les oiseaux
Ils viennent les premiers et ne s'en iront pas
Le chemin qu'ils ont fait se comptait pas à pas
Et disparaissait à mesure
        Ils marchaient sur la pierre dure
Au bord des champs ils se sont arrêtés
Au bord de l'eau ils se désaltéraient
    Leurs pieds soulevaient la poussière
Et c'était un manteau brodé par la lumière
Tous ceux qui s'en allaient
marchant dans ce désert
Et pour qui maintenant le ciel s'était ouvert
Cherchaient encore le bout où finirait le monde
Le vent qui les poussait continuait sa ronde
        Et la porte se refermait
    Une porte noire
                La nuit
