Ich wandle am gelben Strand verdüstert hin und her; Schiffe, segelumspannt, durchfliegen das ferne Meer. Sie zieh'n durch den Ozean in alle Welt voll Lust, ich folge ihrer Bahn, von Sehnsucht voll die Brust. Ich möcht' in die Ferne zieh'n von Heimat und von Haus, ich möcht' in die Welt entflieh'n, in die Welt, und drüber hinaus.
