by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Sonst liebte ich die Rose wohl
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sonst liebte ich die Rose wohl
Mit ihrem Duft und süßen Schein,
Jetzt aber ist mir lieber noch
Als sie, der dunkle Rosmarein.

Steckt eine Rose immerdar
In's linke Knopfloch mir hinein,
Jetzt trage ich an ihrer Statt
An meiner Brust den Rosmarein.

Wie schlägst du doch so heiß, mein Herz,
Als wär' davor noch Rosenschein,
Sei still doch, Herz, weißt du denn nicht
Wie sich's geziemt für'n Rosmarein?!
