An die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Komm herab du unermesslich milde,
Starke lindernd süsse Zaubermacht,
Senk dich nieder auf dies Wehgefilde,
Du Erlöserin, Du reine Nacht.

Trockne all' die heut vergoss'nen Tränen,
Gieb dem müden Auge Schlafesruh,
Scheuche fort das unermesslich Sehnen
Ungestillten, heissen Schmerzes Du.

Sehnend streck ich meiner Seele Arme,
Möchte ruh'n an Deinem Busen lind,
Meines heissen Herzens Dich erbarme,
Lass mich schlafen, wie ein müdes Kind.
