Mädchenherz
Language: German (Deutsch)
Eh' ich mein Schicksal dir vertrau'
  Zum Bund dir reich' die Hand,
Eh' dein' und meine Zukunft
  Umschlingt das selbe Band,
Eh' all mein Glück ich für dich wag'.
In stiller Nacht dein Herz befrag',

Hat deine Seele einen Wunsch,
  Der nicht zu meiner dringt,
Ein Hoffen, dem in meiner Brust
  Kein friedlich Obdach winkt?
So sag's, dieweil ich frei noch bin,
Mein Leben welkt sonst freudlos hin!

Zögst du dereinst die Hand zurück,
  Und sagst, wenn ich's beklag',
"Nicht ich, das Schicksal trägt die Schuld,"
  Das sei mein letzter Tag.
Drum sprich und warne mich,
Ich bitte dich!

Nein, lieber schweig', sonst bricht mein Herz;
  Kein Wort zurück mir gib!
Behüt' dich Gott vor Reu' und Schmerz,
  Und sei getrost, mein Lieb;
Mag noch so schwer das Leben sein,
Du weißt, ich bin auf ewig dein.
