by Johann Nepomuk Vogl (1802 - 1866)

Fromme Bergleute
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Fromme Bergleut', sitzen wir
Hier in trautem Rund',
Haben Wein und haben Bier
Und sehr durst'gen Mund.

Fromme Bergleut' trinken gern
Wenn die Gläser voll,
Preisen auch darnach den Herrn,
Wie ein Jeder soll.

Fromme Bergleut' küssen auch
Gern ein schönes Kind,
Ist’s doch alter Bergmann'sbrauch [sic],
Wie noch viele sind.

Fromme Bergleut' sind auch noch
Freunde vom Gesang,
Singen d'rum, befreit vom Joch,
Ganze Nächte lang.

Fromme Bergleut' thun allein
Dieß zum Lob des Herrn,
Nur die Zeche für den Wein
Zahlt kein Einz'ger gern.
