Lied
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
O Licht, dat gudsend opfonteint
de Meimaandsche kimmen uit,
glinsternd uw bundels openstraalt
en duizenddradig spint
aan het gouden zomerkleed, - triomf van de zon!
in 't najaar verbleekt,
vergrauwend op 't winterland. . .

O Waterbel van vloeikristal,
die relt van de rotsen neer;
die in de bergbeek spelemeit,
de zonne vangt in klare rivier,
onstuimig wast en bruist in den stroom!
doch nader den mond,
gaat deinen op diepe zee . . .

O Leven, Leven, godlijk schoon
ontwaakt in het schreiend wicht;
't groeit in den knaap tot bloesenbot,
die in den jongling berstende dorst
naar droom en daad, en bloeit in den man!
den grijsaard ten spijt,
die wuift op de stille dood . . .
