by Balthazar Verhagen (1881 - 1950)

Blijde intrede
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Gedenk weer ’t Verleden,
  o roemrijke Amstelstad,
Zie op naar ’t juweel,
in de kroon op uw torens vervat,
Waardoor gij nog heden
Schittert te midden der wereldsteden.

Ontwaak uit den roes
  van den koortsigen nieuwen tijd,
’t Gepeins op uw wetenschap,
  handel en nijverheid
Met lieflijke droomen
Komt u de adem der lente doorstroomen!

De zonnige Mei spint heur glansen
  om ’t grijze stadhuis.
Het windeke uit zuiden
  omspeelt het met streelend gesuis.
Want daar als een sproke,
Sluimert een bloesem nauwlijks ontloken.
