by Emil Aarestrup (1800 - 1856)

Et Aftensuk
Language: Danish (Dansk)
End blegrødt af Solen
Og blankt ligger Vandet;
I Baaden en Fisker
Sees glide fra Landet.
Hans Pjalter forskjønnes
I Havfladens Speil —
Der er Sølv om hans Aare
Og Guld i hans Seil.

I Løvhytten sidder,
Med Armene trinde
Om Elskerens Nakke
En ung Elskerinde.
Og Drengen ved Brystet,
Saa smilende rød,
Er faldet i Slummer
Paa Moderens Skjød.

I Luften sig svinge
Og stige og dale
Og qviddrende krydse
Sig Svale ved Svale.
Vandmyggene sværme
Omkring dem og flye,
Og tabe sig fjernt i
En summende Sky.

Det aftnes; det mørknes.
Paa Taget jeg skuer
Med Hovdet i Vingen
De sovende Duer.
Jeg selv kun — hvi er jeg
Ei rolig og glad,
Som en Orm i sin Nød, som
En Myg paa sit Blad?
