by Enrico Panzacchi (1840 - 1904)

Sull'alba
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Il gallo canta; e i sogni o lieti o tristi
Migran nel muto obblio:
Riedi al mondo dei sogni onde partisti,
Larva dell'amor mio!
Tutta intera la notte io vigilai
Col capo a' tuoi ginocchi:
Chi le ha viste le stelle?... Io non guardai
Che i tuoi bellissimi occhi.
Quanti nomi d'amor giunti al tuo nome,
Sconosciuto alle genti;
Quanti baci d'amor sulle tue chiome
Odorate e fluenti!

L'aura notturna ci portava in viso
Le fragranze de' prati;
Parean fragranze di vicino Eliso
Ai cori inebrïati.
L'ali del Tempo ci parean sospese
Su quell'ore felici...
Ma squilla il bronzo alle vicine chiese,
S'inalban le pendici.
Ahi! quelle squille destano i viventi,
La luce all'opre invita;
Addio, fantasma dagli occhi lucenti,
Addio, torna alla vita!
