by Luigi Romanelli (1751 - 1839)

Se per voi le care io torno
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Se l'itale contrade,
che in fanciullesca etade
abbandonai, preme il mio piè; se vidi
il ciel natio; se dell'amata suora
sulle stanche pupille io tersi il pianto,
valorosi compagni, è vostro il vanto.

(ai soldati)
Se per voi le care io torno
patrie sponde a vagheggiar,
grato a voi di sì bel giorno
il mio cor saprò serbar.

CORO DI SOLDATI
L'esempio, il tuo periglio
a noi servi di sprone;
né bomba, né cannone
potevaci arrestar.

CLARICE
Viva il desio di gloria,
che all'alme amar non vieta:
ciascuno con me ripeta:
«Marte trionfi, e Amor».
(Sotto l'intrepida
viril sembianza
sento a risorgere
la mia speranza:
tra i dolci palpiti
s'infiamma il cor.)

CORO

Qual volto amabile!
vivace e nobile!
Che ardir magnanimo
gl'infiamma il cor!
