by Walther von der Vogelweide (1170? - 1228?)

Winterlob
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wo immer Lieb' bei Liebe ruht
In stiller Seligkeit,
Ist keine Zeit des Jahrs so gut
Als die traute Winterszeit.

Denn hat der Winter auch kurzen Tag,
So hat er doch lange Nacht;
Und jedes Herz ihn gerne mag,
Dem Liebe je gelacht. --

O weh! da sing' ich von Dingen ja,
Die ich nimmer sollte gestehn;
Denn hört mein Schatz dies Lied etwa,
Wie wird es mir ergehn!

Confirmed with Edwin Bormann, Klinginsland. Minnelieder und Spielmannnsweisen. Alten Meistern nachgesungen, Leipzig: Edwin Bormanns Selbstverlag, 1891, page 28.
