Hochzeitsvorabend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Fühlst du, Liebster, dieser Lüfte
Süß ambrosisch weiches Regen,
Wie sie voller Amberdüfte
Mir um Busen und um Hüfte
Aphroditens Schleier legen?

Alle Geigen, alle Lauten
Seufzen leis' so lieb und wehe,
Machen nocheinmal bewußt
Jede alte süße Lust.
Traurig rufen sie dem trauten
Mädchen zu ein mild' "Vergehe!"

Höre, Liebster, wie sie wissen
Mit dem dunklen Klang der Stimmen,
Daß in einem Meer von Küssen
Huld und Gunst von dannen fließen
Morgen, wenn die Lichter glimmen.

Alle Lauten, alle Geigen
Schwinden in ein süß Ermatten,
Jede Stimme leis verschwebt,
Einen letzten Schleier webt,
Demutsvoll ein hold' Verneigen
Vor der Gattin und dem Gatten.
