Fleur du vallon

Dans le creux d'un vallon une fleur délaissée
Au souffle d'un zéphyr, qui s'en vint à passer,
Surprise tout-à-coup doucement caressée,
D'épanouir pour lui crut devoir s'empresser.

Mais l'ingrat s'éloigna dès qu'il l'eut éclore,
Vers ses brillantes sœurs, infidèle, il courut ;
Elle attendit en vain, et quand revint l'aurore,
L'humble fleur se pencha, se fana ... puis mourut !
