Les Étoiles
Language: French (Français)

Au fond des paradis lunaires,
Suspendus dans l'azur changeant,
Sont de magiques luminaires :
Les étoiles aux yeux d'argent.
Depuis toujours qu'elles demeurent
Et veillent immuablement,
Pour Elles, les poëtes meurent
A regarder le firmament.
Et qui sait si leurs blanches flammes
Fascinant nos yeux éblouis
Ne sont pas faites de nos âmes
Et de nos rêves infinis ?

The stars
Language: English  after the French (Français)
In the vastness of the lunar paradise,
Suspended in the shifting blue
Are some magical lights:
The silver-eyed stars.
Forever they endure
And watch motionless,
For them, poets die
When they look at the heavens.
And who knows if their white flames
Bewitching our dazzled eyes
Are not made of our souls
And of our dreams, our infinite dreams?
