Seewind soll aus meinem Sang dir weh'n,
so wie er frostig durch das Nordland braust,
wie dem Volke, dem dort Hütten steh'n,
er den Sinn gehärtet und die Faust.

Wie er weht aus manches Menschen Nähe,
nicht rauh, noch kalt, nur still und klar,
und ich es fühl', wenn ich vorüber gehe,
ein laut'rer Geist mir nahe war.

Seewind soll aus meinem Sang dir weh'n,
wie meine Stirne oft ihn gefühlt,
Und mir ist Lohns genug gescheh'n,
wenn dein Haupt an ihm sich kühlt!
