by Jean-Baptiste Théodore Weckerlin (1821 - 1910)

Chanson de Bandhoula
Language: French (Français)
Ah ! si j'étais oiseau,
Je déploierais mon aile,
Comme le passereau,
Pour t'aller voir, ma belle !

Pour chanter ma chanson,
Je choisirais ma branche,
Dans le petit buisson,
Où tu viens le dimanche.

Si j'étais l'humble fleur,
Qui te plaît davantage,
Je mourrais de bonheur,
Placée à ton corsage.

Ou bien dans le jardin
J'irais sous la tonnelle,
Où dès le grand matin
Tu viens toujours plus belle.

Je voudrais être l'eau,
Que tu bois sous l'yeuse,
J'aurais pour mon tombeau
Ta bouche gracieuse.
